Brad McQuaid Thinks Facebook Gaming May Take Off Soon

Announces a new startup on his blog, along with a job opening for a new designer to make a social game. Coming soon: programmer and artist positions! (you read it here first) Flash may also be involved. Note: this is in stealth mode, so don’t tell anyone you saw this posting on his blog. Or on F13. Or on Massively. Or above the skies of Serbia. Or MMORPG.com. Remember: stealth.

Magic Eight Ball is broken, so instead I will have to foresee the future using the ad served up along with this post on the RSS feed.
It was an ad for Evony..
Surely this is proof conclusive that McQuaid’s new project will be controversial, yet profitable.

The real question is will there be coke? Will the game be hardcore?  Will Brad not show up on shut-down day because he can’t face his employees? Maybe it will be a game about running a company into the ground and then hiding out for three years hoping people will forget.

  • War

I heard that if you fail to win their game, you lose all your friends.

  • Jeff

I just hope he updates whatever game he is making when it launches faster than he updates his blog.

I wonder how many more lives he can ruin?   I wish that was a joke but his last project bankrupted more than a few good people.  He has the common sense of a garden slug.

Do us all a favor and just go away Brad.

Fantastic. I can’t wait to get to level 60 and grow Greater Turnips for my Belch Weaver class Farmer.

  • Aufero

I didn’t realize that what social gaming needed was sophistication.  Will top hats and spats be required every day, or will there be casual 16-hour Fridays?

  • Arrakiv

    Siiiigh…

And for so many reasons this time.

Brad = David Allen?  WHO KNEW?

  • http://beafraid.com hellfire

I think you’ve all got it WAY wrong. “The Brad” getting into Facebook/social gaming is the surest way to KILL Facebook/social gaming! In 2 or 3 years we’ll be back to the way things should be, the way they were back when the universe was new and shiny.

    Sambo:
Brad = David Allen?  WHO KNEW?

Hmm – if Brad and Derek Smart had a social game together, would the resulting creation become self-aware and conquer the universe?

    Dear people funding Brad,

Please continue funding him in facebook games and never even think about another MMO with McQuaid involved.

    Thank you,
    Matt

  • Ashendarei

Amen to that. Better yet, keep stringing him along on empty promises and minimal funding, and keep him the ^$#% AWAY from the rest of the world for the forseeable future.

Why so many Brad hate? Feeling sore of “The Vision”? I just find it funny, I mean, he doesn’t act like this guy:

  • AJT

Does anyone else see the Irony of Brad McQuaid making a facebook type game for the casual game market? Isn’t his entire misguided philosophy of game design one of “casuals suq, only hardcores are worth my time, you must be willing to feel the pain to thrive in my game!”

  • http://www.whatwouldmattdo.com Matt

Personally, I don’t hate Brad. I don’t even know the guy. What I do dislike is The Vision™, the disregard for what players actually want in a game, and the complete and total PR bullshit that dribbles out of mouth vs. what actually gets released.

I dislike his past performance, I don’t dislike the man. Heck, it’s not like I’m required to play his game. But he sure isn’t making the MMO industry any better, and I’d argue he makes it worse.

I may have my facts wrong (wouldn’t be the first time) but didn’t he also think Vanguard was ready to launch?

  • MemoryChipped

Aradune isn’t getting much love here (no surprise). I wonder if he chose casual games because he has no rep there, or just because it takes less capital.
