This is just getting silly. First the guy outside Blizzard HQ, then this. While these people are certainly original, I’m pretty sure this is not what’s going to get them hired. I’d love to see one of them prove me wrong, though.
In someways though it’s a fast way of getting your info to the people who are interested in it.
I think the music/singing might be a bit much for certain places but having a quick video with useful facts about yourself could be a good way to get more interest in your resume, and hopefully into an interview.
Anything is better than sending a resume to some HR person or computer that only scans for keywords to decide if the person who manages the person who is looking to hire should see your resume.
For some reason, considering where he’s trying to go, this doesn’t seem entirely inappropriate. I’ll second the notion that anything is better than using the standard contact and apply here crap that’s usually displayed somewhere on a website. A trip to AGDC got me more interviews in the following couple of weeks than 6 months of emailing resumes had done.
It would be a completely different story if he were trying to pick up a job with a different company though. Also, could have used a little toning down on the love for Timmy. It’s a team, not a solo production – and that’s something I would assume he knows if he’s been in our industry for 15 years.
In this market, you either get supremely lucky (like I just did . . . back to law for me!) or you do whatever it takes to get a job. Quite honestly, if I was in a position to hire someone, and someone submitted a video like this, I’d absolutely look at the resume and give an interview based on the willingness to do whatever it takes to find a job. Someone who doesn’t take himself too seriously is a big asset in any job industry, especially where ego can make people into total shitheels.
As someone who went through the “Morning! GTFO by 9AM plz. Security here will help you not get lost.” routine earlier this year, the only reason I found another job was because of contacts I had met at conferences and a recommendation from one of my former co-workers. I can’t imagine anything like this truly working…
I’m on Chinese internet, and it pops up ads from time to time. This one fits the patented “Use Tits to Promote a Video Game” Evony formula to an absolute T.
Maybe it’s just standard practice for Chinese game companies?

How can Mr Schaeffer not employ Craig after that?
That’s awesome!

It will probably either get him a job or a restraining order.

Good point. Maybe I should start throwing bricks through windows.

I think it works great.

Both disturbing and amazing at the same time. Sounds like a match made in heaven to me. XD

Being old and experienced means people know you and your work. Networking tops all.
I see Scott as an economic barometer. If he’s not re-employed within three months the economy really is deep in the shitter.
No pressure or anything Scott… ;^)

Oh shoot, I better stock up on ammo and MREs then!

You’re clearly going to have to kick it up a notch, Scott.
How do you feel about interpretative dance?
#14 by J. on October 29th, 2009
You don’t want to see Scott try to dance.

It’s less the whole world depends on me getting a job and more the whole world is apparently willing to do my job for cheaper.

Sorry, I only hire people who play the Alpenhorn. Bagpipers will be considered for contract work.
