STOP.

Mormon time.

(By the way, in case it’s not obvious, this is actually from an 80’s-era anti-Mormon propaganda video.)

Now see these are the kinds of videos you should be posting.

It was especially nice, because at the end it linked to robotnik’s tea party.

The ancient Mediterranean economy was apparently based on a vigorous hair peroxide trade.

    O.o

    Why?

I liked the part with the Moses pimp the best.

    ummm….ok

  7. #7 by Einherjer on March 20th, 2009

Well, although I don’t know the pourpose of the video, I’d still would like to start a war here. ;)

I can understand that a good man that lived 2000 years ago, in a time where a small trip to the beach took the best part of a year, can nowadays be considered divine.

A “take this herbal tea son, it will make you feel better” can easy become “he healed the sick” or “please remove the bandages, he is only unconscious” can become “live”.

But the idea that in the 19th (?) century, this bloke claimed that he was given gold tablets by an angel and the only proof of that was the “word” of ten of his friends is simply…. I don’t know…

    Religion is seriouz bizznezz…

I’m all for any religion that involves aliens, and there is more than one. I consider it my own spiritual struggle to choose between them.

My favorite is the South Park episode.

    Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb!

  10. #10 by pharniel on March 20th, 2009

I need to have a southpark mini-thon with all the religion episodes.

  11. #11 by Angelworks on March 20th, 2009

I’m actually a member of the church and I found the Southpark episode and the film “The Godmakers” pretty funny. Southpark was a strangely accurate in some ways.

    @Einherjer

The funny thing about all that is IF that was all the guy did, and He got crucified for it, wouldn’t His believers have scattered like the wind and been done with it? Why did they sacrifice themselves into persecution for spreading the word of Jesus’ deeds if there was nothing more to it. If He died, the story dies. But He didn’t stay dead, and thus His story didn’t die like it otherwise would.

Just something to think about, I’m not interested in your war. But I will give you credit, when it comes to baiting, you are a master. :)

Wow, going in this direction after the last couple of Scott’s posts is kinda like cleansing your palate with Borax.

For the same reason people fought and died for David Koresh (sp) or any other cult leader for that matter?

So, basically your arguement is: “Well, I worship the guy – so CLEARLY he did something pretty epic!” ?

No, my argument, or more appropriately food for though, is this: why would people, people that lived and walked with the guy, throw away their lives and let themselves be persecuted, when it would have been easy to walk away and not spread the word?

If Jesus was just a charismatic teacher, wouldn’t they have just scattered after he died?

For the same reason people followed Jim Jones, Marshall Applewhite, Jerry Fallwell, Jim Baker, etc..etc.

People want to believe there is more because death and the unknown scares the shit out of them – it hardly takes more than charisma to build a following and once you have one the people tend to lose their grip on rationality.
