“With Warhammer, We Bring You Public Quests, Living Guilds, And My Rendition Of Ruby Tuesday. Who COULD Hang A Name On You.”
Mark Jacobs of Mythic, as seen on G4, remembering the little people:
As spotted by J. J. thinks he’s going for a Frank Black look:
But I’m thinking it’s more of a 80′s super producer thing.
I guess we’ll know if when you sack the Inevitable City, that creepy girl from the “Close to the Edit” video comes out and yells “HEY!“.

I like the way they have taken all the good stuff from the last 10 years of MMO’s, and left all the bad stuff out…. Thats really impressive. Why didn’t anyone else think of that?

Make a female high elf.
/clap
Then /cry or /laugh IRL.
40 Million Dollars and this is state-of-the-art.

Right. Because the /clap emote is the most important and vital thing in the game.
The launch went smoothly, the game is fun out of the box, and while it does have some bugs, they’re not (for the most part) game killers. The performance issues that people are having, along with the CtDs, seem to be the biggest issues right now. Mail/bank/inventory/AH issues are secondary, and if I remember right, WoW had those also, along with worse queues.

I’d love to see how WAR is doing sales/subscriptions wise. Most people who beta tested it (including myself) had nice things to say about it, but I don’t notice many of them actually playing it now.
Maybe less than a week after launch is too early to be talking about it though.

I still don’t think the launch is as smooth as some are saying as there are no official forums; check out the Warhammer Alliance Boards or the VN Boards in the technical support section. Out of my large guild, we have currently 33 people who are having the various crash to desktops and computer hard restarts to the client. That is nearly half of our players who are experiencing a technical issue and most of these people played during both the open beta and preview weekend without a hitch.
Their client has screwed the pooch but since there are few places to rally the anger currently… The nice shining coat is going to get knocked off of this game once people leave Tier 2.
I’m playing the game fine, the only crashes I’ve had were related to alt-tabbing but it just feels like Mythic has over estimated and in fact caused massive problems within the nascent community. The CE servers still having queues well above 1k in the evening while other servers are languishing and the few moderator posts on “unofficial” boards doing Zee I Know Nothing Dance. I’ve seen Mark post there that it was too early to judge but when you have let me buy a product, divided the servers up and so much of the population is in one area, your game is dysfunctional.
This is a community dependent game, you have essentially given us TF2 and the servers to play it on but you are not letting opponents or teammates on server by choice. What guild didn’t have a few people order the collector’s edition? And the cloned servers are seeming ghostlands.
We won’t even get into the leveling issues with Tier 3 content if their aren’t scenairos. My wife and I enjoyed DAoC greatly and we have been playing since the collector’s edition headstart, we’ve not been catassing but I have played a few nights until a quarter to three.
I and my wife are level 26 and there are no Tier 3 quests left. No racial pairing has any quests left so we are left with a few choices, grind mobs, grind PQs, or hope tier 3 opens up. I had a few chats with the fellows who are doing the serious catass in their 30s now and they’ve said the same thing to me. Yeah we can’t get PVP (duh) so their were significant times at various levels in the upper 20s we grinded mobs until we were blue balled into Tier 4.
Hark, prithee, thine game is currently dysfunctional and hoping to sell more boxes isn’t a solution to the population problems in the most community oriented MMO to date. We can’t use large portions of the game due to lack of people…

ohhhhhhh, hell levels. looks like they actually took EVERYTHING from the last 10 years of MMO and threw it into that gaming gumbo.
and once again my rule of not starting an mmo until 6 months in is proving more and more correct.

pharniel, I bow to your wisdom. I will wait this time. You should have said it early, before I wasted gas and $60 to run to that gamespot and bought AOC after reading Scott’s exciting report
In fact I will double this, and wait for a year LOL.
However I will buy starcraft II immediately when it come out, which looks fantastic in the demo (and it is not a MMO)

Thanks for the Art of Noise reference. Made an old dude like me chuckle. You even got in the Corey Hart reference in the tags. Excellent.
Now I just need to figure out how to make a Komrade Kiev reference work in context…
