Wow
Now if only he had thought that being that open with the DAoC community was a good thing .. Might have retained a few extra subs that way.

I don’t think Mark Jacobs should be as worried as he is about WAR’s success and failures. When the beta servers are down for a couple days, people start freaking out that they can’t get on the test server and going through withdrawals. When it comes back up with all their characters wiped, they log in and start leveling new characters as quickly as possible.
The game is just plain fun, minus a few bugs here and there that really don’t effect the main draw of the game, the PvP/RvR/whatever you want to call it.

“1) I’m so going to nerf the ability to comment. I mean, come on, who gave people a right to comment on what I said?”
Really?
*Really?*

I tend to be cynical about such things as off-the-cuff blogs written by otherwise busy people with so much at stake, so I’ll ask my blanket question: “Is there a ghostwriter/PR guy penning all this?”
Ability to comment is the key to blog success, in my view. Otherwise, it just sounds like you’re talking to yourself because you like the sound of your voice. If I want to to get that impression, I think there are plenty of pundits around who can fill that spot far better than Mr. Jacobs.

I think anyone who talks to Mark for more than 15 seconds will understand that what he posted isn’t ghostwritten.

Scott, thanks for the shoutout.
Lorekeep, I was being sarcastic. I did says that nobody should believe points 1-3.
Vetarnias, ^^^ and look at my latest post. And no, it’s not being ghostwritten, I did/do/will actually write that stuff.

I predict in two months he’ll lose the interest and forget about it.
But then I predicted the same about Raph Koster.

Ah, my bad. You read a statement like that and it shocks you into stopping reading. I also scanned all your posts and missed that comments were still enabled since it appeared after all the tags.

@Mark Jacobs
My bad, too. Now, which realtor should I contact for your oceanfront property in Idaho?

“In truth though, we have come a long way since DAoC with our metrics tools, surveys and forum work. If we had everything in place for DAoC that we have in WAR, ToA would never have happened.”
Okay. For ME… that’s a money quote. Solid gold. =)

Well… It could be a rather good idea for him to have a blog, more some from a marketing prospective depending on what he writes about in the long term.

Why? In God’s name, WHY!!!
#14 by J. on September 4th, 2008
why start a blog? Hell, I dunno.
#15 by D-0ne on September 4th, 2008
Does Mark know WHY?

Nah, the best line is the one about better commenting powers after 4M posts. Good to know you’ve got a sense of humor about the whole thing, Mark.

Marc, you sort of have a head on your shoulders. You must know how much of a gamble this is. If WAR doesn’t do well, everyone’s going to take it out on your blog.
If it does do well, you’re STILL going to get shit for every little imperfection in your game.
So, uh… yeah. Enjoy blogging, I guess.
Also, I still hate you for the poor handling of armsmen back when DAoC was relevant.

This probably won’t end well. But the endtimes will, no doubt, be entertaining.
