The first time I watched Batman Begins the only criticism I had was how Christian Bale spoke while in the costume. It took me out of the film. After my second viewing, I found them to be the best bits of acting in the movie. “Swear to me!”
And while I understand the gutteral thing I know how it takes some people out of it. For me its fine, I mean, a normal guy talking in a bat outfit would be weird, but if he had a horrible kill your throat voice it just adds to his crazy.
