News For Lunch 8/11/08

Two quick newslunchy squibs, and then we can all move on with our day:
MYTHOS RESURRECTED as Runic Games. They don’t own the Mythos license, but they do own the Flagship Seattle people who made the game. Well, not literally own. You know. They work there. MOVING ON.
STAR TREK ONLINE RESURRECTED as Star Trek Online. They promise Borg. Sold. (I’m easy.)
So, this is going to be, basically, “level up from shuttle to Galaxy Class” according to the trailer. I wonder if I can get an epic warp core drop from a borg cube raid.
Although.. they do promise Romulans and The Dominion as playable races for future expansion packs. Sold, but only if I can decloak and PK newbs.
Man, its like the dead are rising from the graves – in the form of games!
While I will be interested to see what they do with it, I am still not sure from what I have seen so far (especially after what they released over the weekend). It looked too cartoonish to me.
I hope Cryptic can pull a good game together, because I love the Star Trek universe.
Mythos = meh.
STO = Moderately interesting, but just barely above meh.
How about something new and interesting from our industry? Is that too much to ask?

Yeah, Mythos makes me shrug, and Star Trek Online doesn’t do much for me.
Maybe closer to a beta I’ll have my interest piqued, but till then eh.
