One of the founders of fantasy gaming passes into the West.

Guess he won’t be around to bless 4th Edition.

Why do I picture a bunch of nerds in parents basements around the world screaming to the sky.

I just saw one of those woman talkshows (stfu laid off for the cold season will do it to you too)

They took women that couldn’t find guys and placed them in unfamiliar settings, outside their comfort zone.
Doesn’t get anymore uncomfortable then a Gamecon for a hot chick to show up knowing nothing about gamers.. (no offense to the nerds) which is where they set up this chick to meet these…uh…guys. She went for the one playing Magic or something..a card game.

The one playing D&D barely looked up from his game during …yes during the date he kept leveling.

I can appreciate the creation the man made….but he doomed generations of boys to dating their hands.

    Wow, Amp. Prejudice much?

    Grow some skin?

Last time I looked this was the internet. Though I was just poking fun…i’m a nerd at heart.

    Only I go outside.

Gygax didn’t doom them, those sorts are doomed from birth. He just gave them something to do besides collect stamps or stalk birds.

Rest in peace, Gary. May your adventures in the outer plains be epic.

what TPRJones said, before there was DND there were still many a thing that had an underlying minutia to lure in the unsuspecting geek

In memoriam, for the next 20 days I declare all 20’s to be natural.

    Clearly, God needed a DM.

Looks like gygax failed his grapple check against… no wait, I think you roll to hit first, then do a strength check… or do you do that next turn? Oh and I think his pancreas gets an attack of opportunity too…

You can probably rate the maturity of a field by how many people involved in it have died since its founding.

    Here’s to a maturing field.

Hard to imagine Fantasy and Gaming without d&d.

    R.I.P Gary Gygax

You know, I was never sure how his name was pronounced. “Guy-gacks”, “Guy-jacks”, “Jy-gacks”, “Jy-jacks”…

I first played D&D in 4th grade at my catholic elementary school. Some kid brought in a basic set and a group of us started playing at recess during lunch time. At first the nuns thought it was swell, that we were making up adventures and telling stories. Then they realized that our characters worshipped Odin, and we were battling demons in hell.

They flipped and banned the game from school grounds.

Thanks for the awesome memories Gary.

Years of chaotic good fun, hanging out with random guys, playing D&D. The conversation would frequently turn to the creators of our beloved game. And often we would say if we could meet any one person in this world it would be E. Gary Gygax. Rest in Peace and let all gamers of the world play in your memory this day and every day. Merry Part until we meet again Gygax.

Don’t forget, there’s still a surviving creator of D&D. Sadly, he tends to get overlooked as Gygax was better at self-promotion.

Well, and Gygax put his names on the books (and the ring)
