That Warlock Thing 2: Catholic Boogaloo
Warlocks, frustrated, cast Divine Intervention
In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit
Dear God, please intercede on our behalf to grant wisdom and strength to Blizzard Entertainment. They are truly servants of God, they bring happiness to millions of people the world over and through their games encourage holy chastity.
In these troubled times, however, their wisdom has been clouded. In your infinite power, we pray to you to do us the service of interceding to prevent the life tap nerf.
The true god of warlocks had no comment as of yet.

How long until Benny Hinn rolls up a character to HEAL THE CHARACTERS?

“They are truly servants of God, they bring happiness to millions of people the world over and through their games encourage holy chastity.”
So true.
Is it a sign of addiction when you feel more gratified after a good night of 5v5 than a good night of sex?

I cried, on the inside.
A lot.

“Is it a sign of addiction when you feel more gratified after a good night of 5v5 than a good night of sex?”
That would be a yes.

Wait, what about 5v5 sex?

I think it’s more of a sign of bad sex.

This is not going to be good for anybody.

Obviously none of you are on a 2000+ rated 5v5.
In all seriousness though, nothing compares with DAoC RvR. WoW arenas certainly have an allure about them, but I’ve yet to see the unrivaled catassery Gawaine RvR brought out in people. I was in the top 8v8 guild on the Alb side, and I was considered a slacker because I only put in about 20-30 hours a week playing.
Our GM sold his small business and lived off the cash for a year while playing about 14 hours a day.
Another guy was in a severe car wreck in the summer of 2001. Even though he was able to return to work in Spring of ‘02, he continued to fake disability. He lived off his disability insurance and the settlement he received from the other driver’s insurance company for about 3 years. 16-18 hours a day for him was the norm, although he showed serious restraint when his wife came down with cancer. I think he only played about 12 a day then.
Another pretty much lost his own small business due to his addiction. He hid it well from his wife. She was/is a vice president at a large fortune 500 company, and simply wasn’t around enough to notice him playing all day every day. She thought he just catassed on the weekends occasionally. As his business slowly lost clients for poor performance his addiction only worsened.
Despite all that crap going on in these folks’ lives, there they were leading relic raids at 0500. They relied on the large Hong Kong player population to provide the manpower late at night and in early morning, and led the US players during regular hours. It wasn’t like being in a WoW raiding guild that raids three nights a week. It was like being in a raiding guild that raids twice a day seven days a week.
I’ve had a few drinks and I realize now that the preceding paragraphs have absolutely nothing to do with the topic at hand; however, I typed too much to delete it.

Still think my “Developers as Gods, petitions as prayers” metaphor is over the top?

Comedy gold. Why don’t all the Warlocks just cancel their subscriptions? Seriously.

I’m too lazy to grab the link for the Top 100* teams and players in RvR across all Blizzard servers but would like to point out there isn’t a single Shaman on any of them. If that isn’t nerfed to hell I don’t know what nerfed is.
*Last I checked, ofcourse.

Korak, are you serious? 5v5 Arena is THICK with elemental shamans. There are even name for standard team setups that reference shamans.
