Congrats Scott.
Koster has too many random posts that I really don’t feel like reading to win. I tend to only read MMO-related entries on any blog, not stuff about music or poetry. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy his blog, but he posts almost as fast as Massively and it’s hard to keep up.
Schubert was your main competition. You won for two reasons: 1) You changed your theme like 11 times this year, and I like that. 2) Your posts made me laugh. He did nearly edge you out due to his ratio of good design posts vs. other crap, but I determined you had about as many good design posts as him, just a lot more junk in addition.
Really, there was no scientific process. I visit your site every day, I visit his about every 3 days to a week to see what good stuff he has. Congrats on Gnomey #2.
I’ve concluded that Raph blogs because he has to. He’s like the description of Mass Effect given in the latest Zero Punctuation review, spewing words. Granted, he’s also got a varied list of interests that he’s compelled to write about all the time.
But I will not question anyone able to liveblog anything. I just can’t think and type that fast. I’m an editor and I don’t know shorthand.
I demand a recount.
