Sadly, I think I’m one of the few that remember Dave as “Mahrin Skel” instead of Dave, but that’s also because I was a TL. :p

I want to see that MMO about the Russian Civil War. It would be excellent.
November 12th, 2007 - 20:09
Dave’s mustache is totally mexcellent.

For anyone who hasn’t heard Scott talk, that’s pretty much it right there. Glee tinged with despair, the kind that makes you immediately wonder whether he’s going to go home and drink bleach after he finishes talking.
November 12th, 2007 - 21:28
I would also like to play a russian civil war mmo.
How do we get in the beta for Civilwarcraft?
November 13th, 2007 - 00:46
Yeah, great interview.
When can you tell us what you are working on?!? When can you at least tell us WHEN you can tell us?!? We’re dyin’ out here.
November 13th, 2007 - 08:37
You’re playing it right now. They decided to skip the game and move right to the meta-game: Whining in the forums. (or in this case, blog comments.)

“I realize that not everyone wants to play the penultimate Russian Civil War sim where everyone dies of dysentery.”
And you said you weren’t going to leak your IP.
Leak… dysentery… I just met my self-amusement quota for the day. Thanks!

Tell us how you really felt about WW2 Online.

This was a great interview and actually inspired an idea for a way to create a story that millions of people can participate in simultaneously.
Keep it up Mr. Jennings, YOUDAMAN!

Forward the Workers and Peasants in the name of the Glorious Bolshevik Revolution! Down with the Kulaks! Fight, comrades of the Red Guard, in the name of the People!
Yep. I’d be down with that MMORPG.
November 13th, 2007 - 15:45
Good read. Your “TAXI TO VICTORY” comment made me look that up out of curiosity. I have to admit that chatlog was the funniest thing I’ve read in a long time. Shows how long I’ve been in the mmo culture.
November 13th, 2007 - 20:08
Good read indeed. I’ve been following the Master’s rants since the the early days of the “unmentioned” blog, and remember the Taxi to Victory when it was first posted
Had no idea you were in the cups at the time, however.
On a completely different note. Dave’s mention of the Sci-Fi book he read. It was likely either Poul Anderson’s Tau Zero or Ben Bova’s “Stars, Won’t You Hide Me.” (according to ze Googleness).
Given his brief plotline summary, now I have to dig those up

If this is where we comment on the forum discussion, then where do we discuss these comments? Is there a mailing list or something?
November 14th, 2007 - 08:37
You have to grind up to a level 25 metagamer (or lvl 27 ranter) in order to unlock the meta-meta-game instance.
November 14th, 2007 - 09:27
“Taxi to Victory” lives!
November 14th, 2007 - 16:02
Looking into it, I’m pretty sure it was the Ben Bova story.
