I LOLed. Especially at the “PvP on my caster” part.
The crafting part brought back sad memories. What’s worse is that I think I maxxed out at 500, so I didn’t even hit the most tedious part!

Yikes, as I recall I had something like 1025 weapon crafting by the end. Which would apparently still put me in the top 25 WCs on my old server!

The crafting part is the funniest. 1165 tailoring on my wizard…what a long time that took. The ganked by a high realm rank guild group part was good too.

I remember at the last big Vegas Player Gathering was happening, Mythic posted this as the number one submission for “Why are you DAOC’s number one fan?” and loved it. I even showed it to some real life friends who only vaugly know about DAOC because I occasionaly talk about it and THEY though it was funny.

thumper for the win
seriously, if you have people designing special pieces of hardware to work around your shitty game mechanics, you have failed

Heh quite a few belly laughs at that one, wondering what i’ve let myself in for , have resubbed with DAOC just this last week , my warrior was 1057 WC when I left the game. Still trying to remember what to do and how to do it, i may have to cave and resub on my2nd account, warrior solo is slow…………………….

I only got to 750 spellcrafting. It was so boring I started paying my daughter to level up, after two different sessions she refused to do it any more as it was too boring even for money. OTOH it’s nice to see what people who got rolled by our high RR group looked liek

The really funny part is how loudly people announced DAoC was the “EQ Killer” when the game launched. Commendations were largely based on quest XP (omg! a full bubble!), group bonuses, horse based travel, and the “awesome” tradeskill system.
For the time, that really was as good as it got.
New Frontiers was a fantastic upgrade, and still remains my favorite PvP experience of all time (I still can’t zone into Alterac Valley without letting a wistful sigh escape). It’s a shame the barrier of entry for a new character was so high. The amount of grinding it took to become viable in the frontiers scared off many people.

I played a warrior on Kay, it took me 8 months to get to 47 and finally give up. I made a Necro when their first xpac came out. I was 50 in 30 days. I remember other players just hating me for chain-pulling 3 mobs at a time. God, crafting was stupid bad boring.
That video was my DAoC experience exactly.
