Star Wars Galaxies announces formation of player-run Galactic Senate

Basically similar to Team Lead-style programs run by other games (including SWG), but this time with codified in-game presences.

    This is how wars begin.

“In Galactic Senate news today, Senator P4lp3Tine had to break up a fistfight that began when Senator palpet33n allegedly accused Senator Pa1pet1n3 of making improper remarks about his mother. Film at 11.”

    tprjones ftw!

I’m just very surprised to learn that people still play SWG. Last time I was in there the only time I encountered any other players was in the big cities, and even then only a handful.

Maybe they were all hiding from me.

I like how they specifically state that Senators are NOT allowed to ask for regression of updates.

Wow, the only real limitation on a senator is that they cannot suggest that the game revent to a previous state. The fact that this is a expressively forbidden topic for a senator is telling.

Since they are restricting this one topic in particular from even entering discussion it kills any real sense of democracy, which is kind of the point of a senate.

If the players are the senate, then SoE is Palpatine.

Presumably this is because they know if they don’t specify this, every bill introduced will be “get rid of NGE”

Oh well, soonish will be able to play some pre-nge swg anyways, so not a big deal I guess. Regardless, it still is amusing.

Yeah – I guess that would be a bit like the U.S. Senate introducing a bill to make the Iraq War un-happen.

    To quote my friend Jeff

“Next, you’ll be telling me that all Sidious wanted at heart was a return to the old ways, before the Jedi introduced their restrictive view of the Force. Though his tenure as Senator, Chancellor, and finally Emperor, he would bring back this simpler, nobler time. He would bring back the true powers of the Jedi. He would bring back those who had fallen to death.

    “He would bring back precasting.”
