The Character Customization: Uncanny

Granado Espada shows us their new “Mandarin Pop Star” class

Only in a Korean MMO could you expect a character class that’s a cross between Jack Twist and Tuxedo Mask to be taken seriously.

Um, Isn’t Mandarin a Chinese Dialect? This might be a new Chinese MMOG, I suspect. But the Music Video is pretty bizzah. Marketing gone wild?

Granado Espada has forever earned a place in my heart. That place has absolutely nothing to do with, like, playing computer games.

Pretty sure Granado Espada is from the Korean company IMC games, which was started by Kim Hakkyu of Ragnarok Online fame. The Chinese version is still in beta.

If only I spoke Mandarin so I could understand just how truly awful it was.

I wanted the knight type dude holding the girl in his arms to look up to the sky and scream “NOOOOOOOOOO EXPERIENCE LOSS!!”

GE is in open beta in Singapore (English), right now if anyone cares.

Bah I took it to be her playing the wounded victim so the other guy would go away thinking he killed her. So she then just got back up and said, well that was easier than just telling him. Thanks and you got your work out too.

OK, the music video melodrama makes J-Pop look/sound mature, but does it really reflect on the game? You have to admit the fashion blend of renaissance with victoria’s secret provides a unique look in the MMOG space. And it seems like there are some interesting ideas in the game mechanics, not least of which is you control three characters at once. So you can have your own holy-trinity squad of tank, nuker, and healer. How does this play out in an MMO? Does everyone solo their team? What are the venues for player cooperation and community-building?
