YOU KILLED AC2 YOU BASTARDS
January 29th, 2007
As seen on Sara Jensen’s blog. I found it funnier than she did… perhaps reading Second Life press releases has increased my histrionic tolerance!

Brilliant! Someone needs to make more of this. Hell, I think Messege Board Theatre would make a great half-hour weekly show on G4.
I found the funny pretty easily. It was dancing in a parking lot.
That’s pretty awesome.
Now we need to do one without censorship. I’m sure you could turn any given FoH message board thread into a film like this.
‘VANGUARD IS A VISIONARY MASTERPIECE WHICH WILL ALIGN THE STARS IN THE SKY’
‘LOL YOU SUCK $ONY IS IN IT FOR THE MONEY WOW ROXX’
oooooo k.
You mock my fallen AC2 brothers in jest? Those were real fucking tears! I helped built that place with my three, no, make that four forum posts!
I chortled, MBT has given me a new goal in life; I want to go fat man groovy dancing in random parking spaces and quote poetry from the WoW forums. “hi b 2 ur pwn lolz lvl 77 man? let’s cyber!”
This is the first I’ve heard of AC2 shutting down. Man, that won’t be good for public relations.
1st….
I believe it shut down 14 months ago
Huh? Really? Damn, this is confusing. *Rubs his forehead* Bloody hell, maybe I’m just out of the loop.
Oh, now I know what I did. I thought it was AC1 which shut down way back when. I was getting the two mixed up. Never mind.
AC1’s still chugging along. I’m actually tempted to go pick it up at some point.
According to my girlfriend’s son (who recently got back into AC1) it’s a lot of fun. He splits his time between that and WoW these days.
I saw this on another site and was laughing quite hard, which is rare from Internet material. They really should make a regular segment for “Forum Drama Theatre,” or whatever they called it.
One thing that struck me the most was how so many people say, “I did so much for this community…” Um, just being in a community doesn’t instantly make it better. I place that right up there with publicly stating that, “I’m a hell of a guy. Everyone I meet is better off just by being around me. I make everything awesome by my presence.”
Err, whatever.
That one segment has made up for many (though not all) of the times G4 has made me want to drive chopsticks into my eyes.
Perhaps there is yet hope.
AC1 was my first love
I am tempted to have look again. Apparently the top level is not 126 any more. For people that don’t know level 126 in AC was only achieveable (back in the day anyway) by creating a ponzi scheme called an Allegiance. In WoW I think the exquivalent level would be at least 500, maybe more.
Haha! That was excellent! (Despite G4 being absolutely terrible.)
I’m still going with “that’s hilarious,” primarily because of the comment indicating the person would never give the person who hurt them money again. They implied “Turbine,” but it should be, “the gaming community at large,” because they didn’t subscribe to the game and therefore it had to die. It was still sad to see it go.
If you’ll remember correctly, AC2’s content was supposed to be driven by the community — all the cities were destroyed, and Turbine was going to rebuild the ones that players gravitated towards. It didn’t work out that way, but still.
Alas, it’s only funny to people who don’t understand anything about MMO communities.
Which is most of them, now I think on it.
Oh.
I found it completly stupid myself. The actual posts, when read, last year were funny.this reharsh theatrtical spoof is just …blah. If you were into AC when it happened you would feel the same. It was the Fad to run over to the AC2 boards, while playing AC1, and make fun of what was happening to AC2. But,then again, another thought…how often has a game truly died ?
AC2 is 1 for sure. but how many others have completly fallen over dead…makes ya think
Tragic event or not, there’s just no way to justify the sort of response that last guy in the video gave. “LOL,” as they say.
In 50-100 years the shoe will be on the other foot, you insensitive bastards. Your RL friendships will have ended, and you will be crying out for succour. Who will give it? Certainly not the AC2 community, for they are no more.
Oh, who am I kidding. Those posts richly deserved the parody they received.
