I got to say, pretty damn funny stuff and not at all unexpected. Second life makes it far too easy to do anything, although it seems to me one can lock out people from doing some things, like pushing others and activating scripts. But security takes time and planning. And nobody takes the time to do that because they want to think it's like setting up a small conference in a hotel room. Fast, easy and nobody is stupid enough to make a big ass out of themselves in it because it'll get them in trouble. But the internet provides Anonymity! Thus, the assholes come raging out!
And just think, even with environments as complex as this, the server can still house about two dozen people without having that big of a kernel panic.

For those not familiar with SL, on land you own you have control. You can deny people access to scripted objects, you can limit their actions, you can even boot them off the land entirely. If C|Net's presence in SL were properly run by someone familiar with the system, the peni would have been just a momentary annoyance at most.

Some days what I like to do is close my eyes and pretend that Second Life exists in an entirely different universe than the one I work in.

This is one of those days.

The griefer managed to assault the CNET theater for 15 minutes with\'e2\'80\ldblquote well, there\'e2\'80\'99s no way to say this delicately\'e2\'80\ldblquote animated flying penises.

Yet another reason old media cannot compete with new media. FOX comes close, but Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly don't fly.
